I wish to extend a traditional Irish Céad Míle Fáilte (100,000 welcomes in Irish) to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Kuala Lumpur. The Embassy of Ireland represents Ireland's interests in Malaysia and Thailand and provides a range of services, details of which are given on this site. 

To our visitors from Southeast Asia, I want to stress the Embassy's commitment to deepening Ireland's relations with the countries of this diverse and dynamic region in all areas of common interest. Ireland already has strong links with Southeast Asia in trade, education, investment and tourism. There is considerable scope for our economic links to grow in the years ahead as more and more Irish companies look for opportunities in this region.

I am confident that the Southeast Asian business community will continue to see Ireland, which has been the EU's most successful economy during the past decade, as an attractive European partner.

Irish Universities and Colleges are an increasingly popular choice for those who seek a tertiary education overseas. Our world-class, English-medium system has proven its worth by contributing to the dramatic expansion of Ireland's economy in recent decades. Many students from this region are now enjoying the benefits of an Irish education.

I would like to see more Southeast Asians travelling to Ireland as business visitors and tourists. Our island nation is a land of great scenic beauty. Ireland is home to a famously friendly people, hospitable cities and towns and a unique traditional culture of literature, music, song and dance. Ireland also boasts some of the world's finest golf courses. It is a thriving, modern European nation with a traditional Celtic heart.
